33 Questions– an Interview with DeliverAwayDebt

job-interview1(2)This self interview idea and list of questions come from Dragos Roua, a very interesting blogger who blogs about Personal Development at DragosRoua.  The original post is located here 33 Questions for an Interview with yourself, check it out to get the background information on each question.  Dragos did a wonderful job providing insight into each question.  I came across Dragos though Adam Baker at Man vs Debt about 2 months ago.  Ever since, I’ve enjoy his writing and tips on life.

Intro from Dragos Roua:

Today I’m going to interview somebody really special in my blog. And that would be you. Exactly, you, the one who’s looking at the screen right now. You are a very important person and it’s an honor for me to interview you. I prepared a list of 33 questions and I’m really looking forward to hear your answers.

Yes, this is an interview. With you. Why? Because you’re important, that’s why.

Here are my answers to the 33 questions-

1. What Do You Do For A Living?

I’m an Engineer by degree but I’m really a trouble solver.  I head up a team of union and non-union employees who maintain, repair, upgrade, and innovate engine manufacturing equipment for one of the “Big 3.”  I don’t think we can call ourselves that anymore but most people will know who I’m talking about.

I deliver pizzas for an independent pizza shop.  I love it and work there to pay down my debt every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night.  Most of you follow me on twitter and get to read about the funny interactions I have with all the customers. @deliverawaydebt if you don’t follow 🙂

2. Who Do You Love?

I love my wife and two wonderful children.  I love my family.  I love my two dogs, even though they bug the hell out of me most of the time.

3. Do You Have Enough Money?

I currently do not have enough money, hence the “DeliverDebtAway” title.  I have learned to live on much less than I make so I will have enough money soon enough.  Once it do I can evaluate my career choice and upgrade or down grade accordingly.

4. Are You Healthy?

Yes, I am healthy.  Do I have some bad habits I’d like to change, sure but overall I feel healthy and look healthy.

5. Do You Think You Are a Good Person?

Yes, I am a good person.  I always treat people as I expect to be treated.  My wife even says I’m a good person, so it must be true.

6. How Old Are You?

I’m 33 going on 34 (Nov 26).  I feel like I’m 25 though.

7. Who’s Your Best Friend?

My best friend is my Brother-in-law.  Working two jobs and raising a family doesn’t make for a lot of free time.  Or maybe I just don’t allow myself the time.

8. What’s Your Childhood Dream?

My dream has always been to be a truck driver.  Maybe that’s why I like delivering pizzas so much.

9. How Often Do You Laugh?

I laugh all the time.  I love to make other people laugh which in turn makes me laugh.

10. What Makes You Smile?

The little things my kids do.  Every day I have a new image in my head of the funny things my kids have done from the night before.  It’s cool because every day is something new.

11. Who’s Your Most Dangerous Enemy?

I can’t state this one just in case the person google’s me and reads this.  They can still cause me a lot of harm.

12. Where Do You Live?

Southeast Michigan , near Detroit. Yep the USA.

13. Do You Think You’re Strong?

Yes.  I believe “strong” to be a person who can take on any goal and achieve it.  Someone that isn’t afraid to stand tall on issues close to their heart.  Someone who can admit failure and then change direction so they never fail again.

14. What Was The Most Important Thing You’ve Done So Far?

I took a promotion that involved moving to China.  After a year I decided that it wasn’t meant to be can came back to the US.  Taking the step back in my career has proved to be the single most important thing I’ve done.  I know that I don’t want to work this career for 30 plus years.  It’s opened my eyes to working toward a career/lifestyle that I can be happy with.

15. What Was The Most Stupid Thing You’ve Done So Far?

Going into debt.

16. Do You Love Yourself?

Not to sound vain, but yes.  I believe you need to love yourself and know yourself before you can give all the love you have in your heart.

Making a mistake that will cause great harm to my marriage.

18. What Is Your Favorite Word?

“Snap dragons”  I learned it from my wife and I love it.

Having something happen to my family, nuff said.

22. Picture Yourself In 5 Years From Now

23. Do You Regret Anything?

Everything I have though as a regret has turned out to be an opportunity.  At least so far.

24. What’s The First Thing You Do In The Morning?

Beat the crap out of my alarm clock.  Man that thing pisses me off.

25. What Are You Thinking Just Before Going To Bed?

I think about my debt free self every single night.  It’s what eases my mind so I can go to sleep.

26. What Was The Highest Point You’ve Ever Been To?

I can’t remember the name of the volcano.  It was outside of Toluca, Mexico when I lived and worked there.  It was 15,000 plus feet high.

27. If There’s One Thing In Your Life You Want To Change Right Now, What Is It?

I wouldn’t be working my first job.  After 14 years, I’m just not happy with it anymore.

28. What Are You Proud Of?

I’m proud that I’ve finally taken control of my life and the direction it is heading.

29. Sum Up Your Life In One Sentence

A life spent taking care of loved ones and putting a smile on everyone’s face.

30. Name The Thing That Annoys You The Most

People who chew with their mouth’s open.  I HATE THAT!!!!

31. What Is Your No 1 Question To God?

How do you come up with everyone’s master plan?

32. Do You Have Secrets?

Yes, but only a couple.  If I share them with you, I wouldn’t be a good secret keeper would I?

33. What Makes You Laugh?

Looking in the mirror.  You can’t take yourself too seriously otherwise you’ll never laugh.

Ok, I lied. There are 34 questions:

34. Are You Happy?

Yes I AM!

That was fun.  I hope you learned something about me.

Closing from Dragos Roua:

Now, here’s the deal. If you blog, feel free to copy and paste this article on your blog (with a link back to the original, of course) and answer each question at a time. Feel free to skip the ones you don’t like or don’t want to answer. But do keep the link back so I can discover you. I told you, you’re important.

If you don’t have a blog, maybe it’s time to start one just to answer this interview. Kidding. Or maybe not . Anyway, if you don’t blog, I made an ebook for you. Don’t worry, the ebook is completely free, no obligation. As a matter of fact, you can download it right here, right now, absolutely free:

33 Questions For An Interview With Yourself (3)

Just print it out and write the answers at your leisure. Although I wouldn’t know your actual answers, you can leave a comment and just make me aware that you found some time in your busy schedule and completed it. Like this, I know the interview really happened.

Oh, and if you want to offer the ebook as a freebie on your site, feel free to do it, as long as you leave the content completely intact.

So, once again: who can pick this up? The answer is: anyone! You, especially. And you still wonder why? Because you’re important, that’s why.

Thank you so much for your answers. You may not know it now, but you really are an inspiration.
