Bed Bath and Beyond 20% Off Coupon

by Jeffrey Kosola on March 12, 2010

Bed Bath & Beyond is one of my favorite “big box” stores to purchase household items from. I’ve been using them ever since I graduated high school (many, many years ago.) I thought I would share a commonly known frugal hack with you today.

Bed Bath & Beyond offers 20% off coupons that make gift giving more affordable. Besides using them for our household items, we have some other great uses for the coupons. Since most Brides love to register at Bed Bath & Beyond, we use the 20% coupon to purchase the gift. We’ve used them to purchase wedding shower gifts, wedding gifts, baby shower gifts, and even Christmas gifts. If you are planning to spend $100 on a gift it is a great way to get a $100 gift for $80. In our case, we choose to purchase a $125 gift and get it for $100. I like to give as much as I can so using the 20% coupons allows us to get more for the same price.

Weddings and showers aren’t the only events you can use the Bed Bath & Beyond coupons for. Graduations are approaching fast and Bed Bath & Beyond has a ton of items for college living. Birthdays, Easter and Mother’s Day are all great events to use the coupons on. As with many coupons they are not good on all products, but Bed Bath & Beyond has so many products I don’t think you’ll even notice. Below is a list of the companies that are NOT included.

Gift cards, All-Clad, Nautica, Tempur-Pedic, Wusthof, AeroGrow, Margaritaville, The Sharper Image, Wedgwood, Lenox, Waterford, Vera Wang, Nambe, Riedel, Orrefors Kosta Boda, Oreck, Capresso, Miele, kate spade, Swarovski, Versace, Alessi, Richard Ginori, iJoy

The coupons are very easy to obtain. Follow this link to Sign up for 20% coupon. The link will take you to the Bed Bath & Beyond website to register for their mailing list. Below is a snap shot of the email you’ll receive after signing up. It took me 2 minutes to fill in my info and get the email with my 20% coupon. Once you are on the list, you will get 20% coupons a couple of times a month. The Sunday newspaper includes the coupons every once in a while too. If you need more coupons, have a family member sign up and give you the coupons.

Here’s a great shopping tip: Bed Bath & Beyond honors manufacturer’s discount coupons and even competitors’ promo coupons! Just be aware that all coupons must be used before their expiration date – starting January 1, 2010 the company no longer honors expired coupons.

TIP: Keep the coupons in your car. There is nothing worse than stopping in to Bed Bath & Beyond and not having your coupons. If you have multiple items, you can ask the cashier to ring them up separately and use a coupon for each item.

Good luck everyone :-)

My bank has one of those reward programs associated with my debit card. I didn’t realize I had so many points and was able to snag a $50 Bed Bath and Beyond gift card before Christmas – with sales and coupons that gift card bought a lot of items for presents and our house!

That’s awesome Megan. I’m always completely blown away buy the amount of items my wife is able to purchase. Only things we need though :-) We purchased our Dyson 5 years ago and were able to save over $100 by using the coupon.

No exaggeration, we could wallpaper our entire home with the number of 20% off coupons BBB sends us! I think I’ll take your advice here, thanks Jeff. I know my wife saves some of these, so we should hit the ground running.

Thanks for the idea Matt. I think I may produce a nice little piece of art work with expired coupons. Something like the one J. Money did with Dollar Bills. Cool Pic from Budgets Are Sexy.

No more expired coupons? What am I going to do with the STACK that I have? Oh well, still a great store with good deals and discounts.

Yeah I know, it sucks. I’m going to make some art work with mine. I’ll post the pictures when I’m done. Check out the link in my reply to Matt Jabs and you’ll see what I’m talking about.

As a former employee of BBB, I can add that they will also price-match, and then still let you use your coupon. Also, when I worked there, they would gladly make exceptions and allow you to use the coupon on the items that were supposed to be excluded. I am heart-broken to hear that they are no longer honoring expired coupons, though-I have a LOT of recycling to do!
Also, they have a very liberal return policy, keep your receipts and you can return anything for almost any reason. (As the person who did the vendor returns, I scored a bunch of bargains on returned merchandise that the vendors didn’t want back.)

Thanks alot for the tips Cathie. I knew there was a reason I loved Bed Bath & Beyond. Gotta love the price-match.

I don’t really shop very often, and when I do, I RARELY look for the type of things that BB&B sells, but I must say, I actually really like shopping there. As soon as I go in, I end up saying, “oh I could use a new toaster thingamagingy” or “This doohicky would work excellent with my new toater thingamagingy”, “new pillows? Why not!?! There on sale!” and so on. I just end up finding so many things that I dont really NEED that all of a sudden I NEED haha. And yes those coupons are very helpful. We get them in the mail all the time, I’ve used them a time or five….:)

MFO,
I like shopping there too. I could wander around the store for many minutes :-) which is much longer than any other store I go to. Balancing those NEEDs and WANTs becomes a difficult task. Good thing for us my Wife only gets $30 each paycheck to spend on “housing” stuff. If she had more who knows how much “stuff” we’d have.

Exactly, ever find yourself picking up “just this one kitchen utensil, I really need it” when your original intention was to ONLY buy a new wet mop for the newly weds? All to often has that happened to mua :)

I can’t believe the ‘expired coupon’ hack worked THIS long. I love BB&B — it’s my favorite store next to Target and Kohl’s. The BB&Bs by me also used to take multiple 20% off coupons, so you could use them for different items all in one trip.

I broke the news to my wife last night about the expired coupons. I’ve known about for a while but she didn’t. It sounds like we could be great friends, our favorites stores are Target, Kohl’s and BBB. Our BBB will still take multiple 20% off coupons if you get the right cashier. Some will and some won’t.

I like the fact that you can ring up each item seperately…. must annoy them but hey, we gotta be frugal where we can be.

Hey Forest, It depends on the cashier. I’ve been able to use multiple coupons before because the cashier knew I was going to make her ring them up in different transactions if she didn’t use the multiple coupons at the same time. You are right, Frugal is Frugal brother!!

Was going to stop at BB&B last Saturday, but coupon was on kitchen counter. Darn it! Good idea to keep it in the car.

So Kirkland’s got my business that day. Way cheaper than BBB with very cool house decor.

I’ve never heard of Kirkland, must be a Cali thing. Keeping the coupons in the car has has saved me more than a few times.

The Kirkland brand is Costco’s house brand.

We did a lot of BBB shopping in the last few months, and they’re still accepting expireds in NorCal right now. Not only that, they will ring a full receipt of all your items, and then scan all your coupons in one go – you don’t even have to match up the coupons to the right items for the appropriate discount. Apparently either the cashier or the computer does it without much trouble at all.

AND — if you forget your coupons, they will tell you to bring them back later, and they’ll adjust your previous purchase with the coupons.

Basically the only thing they won’t (or haven’t yet) done is provide a stack of coupons for you, but I think with all the services above you can handle the coupon collecting. :)

I know about the costco Kirkland, but thought it may have been a store that I didn’t know about. Oh well, I still love bbb.

P.S. MoneyFunk could have been referring to a different Kirkland, though.

Another store that won’t dry our pockets. They are a good choice; their discounts are encouraging.too

I used the website to sign up to receive the coupons. Actually, I kind of went crazy and signed up everyone in my family. And so they wouldn’t get all the BBB mail I put a “rule” in outlook to forward the messages to me. Well…today I saw one I don’t think I’ve printed and used yet. Is there any way to find out if the coupon has already been used? Thank you.

I’m still using expired coupons without an issue. Does anyone know if I can use BB&B coupon with manufacturer coupon?

Reply

Megan October 19, 2011 at 2:15 pm

You can, I’ve used Yankee Candle coupons with the BBB 20% off.

Rodo December 31, 2011 at 3:01 pm

I have even had BBB refund me money when I bought something and came back later with the 20% coupon and a reciept. Great store.
