Yet another month has come and gone. September wasn’t a great month for me in my debt destroying efforts, but I was able to cut the student loan debt in half. I was shooting for a complete payoff of the loan this month but I missed the mark.
I had a few other things happen this month that I did not account for. Yep, even I’m not perfect and NEVER will claim to be. It sucks when two of your computers both crap out at the same time. One needed a hard drive and the other a new battery and power cord. I guess the power system in China isn’t that great because it helped to bring 2 Apple computers to their knees (yeah, parts for Apples aren’t cheap either $600) Before you start, the Apples where purchased when I was a rich man and not a pizza dude. I love them and choose to keep them instead of selling them. One is a 24″ imac that I can still get $1,000 for, but I just won’t part with it. As much as I talk about sacrifice, there are just some things that are off limits
The Results

401K:
What can I say, people have gone againest the grain in September. In case you didn’t know September is usually a “loser” month in the market. I’ll take it though, $6,000 extra on paper never hurt anyone. It sure makes my networth look much better. I’m almost in the 4 digit range of negative networth.
Snowballin’:
As I said earlier my progress this month wasn’t up to par for me, but you will be amazed at what’s going to happen next month. Let’s just say my magic 8 ball is sending me some GREAT signs so far.
The Rest:
Now for some real fun. I’m going to featured in a Comic Strip that in currently on it’s 6th edition. Brad (B-rad as I like to call him) from Enemy of Debt has scripted a story involving some pretty big people in the personal finance world. I haven’t seen the script but Brad says it is AWESOME. Included are Dave Ramsey, J.D. Roth (Getting Rich Slowly), Brad Tuttle (Time.com), and ME!! I need to thank Fred and Jeremy from the Credit Card Finder team at Credit Card Daily for including me. Check out the other comics they’ve done below. I still can’t believe I’ll be on the same page with these PF Giants.
Here’s the rough design before the inking happens.

On a last side note. Some funny things have happened around here since I posted my Black Socks Are Sexy post. My hits from google have been off the charts for people searching for people in sexy black socks. I guess there are all types in this world, I can just imagine the look on their face when they click over and read a story a some dude buy black sock. I’m sure I’m a complete downer for them, haha. Oh yeah search “sexy black socks” and I’m number 7 in google. Who would have thought I’d make it big with that post

d.a.d, very cool that you are being put in a comic strip alongside the likes of Dave and the others. Quick question if I may – what are you invested in that you gained roughly 11% in sept?? I’m trying to get my 401k on that kind of track, but it just seems to be piddling along!
@DebtHater Yeah I’m excited to be in comic. I have a fair bit of money in Fidelity Low-Priced Stock fund and the Ariel Fund. Both are doing we this month, I’m sure it will change next month
That’s why I made the “on paper” comment.
I want a magic 8 ball. Hope next month stands true for you.
So did you purposely keyword sexy black socks for Google search ranking? That is funny.
And they did a great job on your comic. Don’t forget to thank Francis for the drawing. Can’t wait to see the next comic. Am I ::running away with last credit card:: ???
Hey Funk, everyone needs a magic 8-ball. I think maybe I’ll get one tattooed on my arm along with the DAD Hummer. I wasn’t planning on ranking for black socks. I guess the lesson to learn is that I shouldn’t use any type of clothing that be taken as sexual (I guess that leaves nothing then). I will thank Francis and if you are in the comic too, then it will be awesome.
That is AWESOME that you are only a few months away from having a POSITIVE net worth! I personally think that’s the coolest thing (next to debt free). I would rather have that then a Benz or a huge house. (Maybe not the Benz, but still!)
@Que, hey brother a Benz and big house can lead you back into debt if your not careful. Don’t worry what everyone else thinks and you’ll be rolling in dough before you know it
Hee hee….I love your comic strip dude.
Magic 8 ball….my son was a Magic 8 Ball for Halloween when he was 2. We had a black sweatshirt with an 8 on it, black sweatpants, and we used the harness from something to tie signs on. People could “shake” him (gently of course!!!) and we would flip the sign (we had 6 I think). Stuff like “don’t shake so hard, I may spew,” “I see a diaper change in your future,” or “Future looks foggy….maybe some Cheerios would help.”
We are weird. I know. We also dressed our kids up like the last two bottles of beer on the wall for their first Halloween.
@Mysti I love the Magic 8 ball costume idea. Maybe I’ll go as one this year. I’d like to see someone try to shake me, haha
I can’t wait to see the final comic Jeff. The guys working on it are amazing, and I am just happy to play my small part in it all.
Oh and congratulations on one year homie! Wished I could have met with you all recently. It sounds like you had a blast!
@B-Rad I’m getting very excited to see the comic. The surprise meet up we had was really cool. Jabs and Baker (two of my ideals- you’re one too) were awesome to meet in person.
Nice cartoon man! They captured your eyes!
Gonna start paying downy my student loans too now. You’re getting me motivated! Cheers
@FS I’m glad you like the cartoon. Yes, it does capture the beauty of my devil eyes
You’ve been saying your going to start on the student loans for months, get off your butt and start doing it. Yes, I am telling the Great Samurai to get to work!!!!!
Hang in there man! You can do it and I understand how you don’t want to sell your Macs. I have been using Macintosh since 1986 and love them.
