There are many uses for the word Stiff and many situations that result in a Stiff. I use my Twitter Account @deliverawaydebt to document all the Stiffs I encounter while out there in Pizza Delivery Land.
Below are some of my favorites.
- STIFFY ALERT I sure hope you don’t get those chicken wings stuck in that gap tooth.
- STIFFY ALERT bill was 22.90 he gave me 23. he said we’re cool. I said whatever and left. Not nice on my part, but I couldn’t help myself.
- STIFFY ALERT this dude looked like Tyson, I understand the no tip he’s broke as a joke.
- STIFFY ALERT. Damn two in a row. Sorry you got your food in 15min, dont worry its the last time, have a great day.
- STIFFY ALERT. Who does this?? Thanks dork, its a twenty.
- STIFFY ALERT: yes I know its cold out. How about you give the person who is out in the cold a tip.
- STIFFY ALERT: again, I know its cold out, help a brother out Chunky Monkey
- STIFFY ALERT: if your going to stiff me don’t engage in small talk with me. I don’t care!
- STIFFY ALERT: 2 in a row. Both of these guys are now on the pizza guys naughty list.
- Yep STIFFY ALERT 0/28 from the Uni-bomber running a monster short wave radio set-up. Probably saw my tweets and used my GPS to track me.
- STIFFY ALERT- from a Mom that didn’t make the Milf list at the kids school. Halloween is weeks away lady, please stop scaring people.
- Speaking of karma, just got STIFFED. Scored a cool 7 cents. I’ll be sure to add that to the college fund.
- Sorry kids, I had to take that 7 cents from your college fund and use to help pay a deadbeats bill. They were 7 cents short. Yep STIFFED
- STIFFY ALERT- stiffed by a girl who use to work for us. See if I give you a free bread again idiot!
- STIFFED again, this fart-head was at the end of our delivery area too.
- STIFFED-lady was singing the song from Dora the explorer. I even finished the song for her and she still stiffed me. Guess I need vocal lessons.
- STIFFY ALERT!! 0/13 Guy looked like a drug dealer. Had on a watch that looked worth 10 grand plus. Probably rhinestones from the Bedazzler kit
- 0/21 STIFFED stupid lazy lady wouldn’t get off her big butt to sign the credit card slip. Had her kid walk it 2 feet to her- LAZY!!
- STIFFED by another Fat Kats virgin. I’ll have to have a talk with this guy later about the rules of tipping
- STIFFED-Even after the guy thanked me for getting him the pizza in under 15 min
- STIFFED- I even bribed her with a free pop and she still won’t tip me
- STIFFY ALERT: guy had a 50 and of course I didn’t have change. Ran to the store and still got stiffed. Ahole

When I was growing up we never ordered pizza delivered and we rarely ate out at restaurants. Once I became an adult, I rarely had the extra money to have pizza delivered, but would have one delivered occasionally. Unfortunately, I was not aware that we were supposed to tip the delivery guy until I dated a guy that used to deliver pizza. I was really embarrassed and horrified that I never knew that. After that, I always gave the pizza delivery person a tip. Now we live 17 miles from the nearest small city and so I couldn’t get a pizza delivered if I wanted one.

Pizza guys know when you are stiffing just to stiff, or you don’t really know. I have 3 people that stiff me I know have no clue about the practice. I can tell by the way they look at me. The people who stiff and know about the practice are always shifty and will not look you in the eye very often. If they do, it’s for a milli-second. You can either see the shame, or distain for you in their actions. Some people just hate delivery people. Those are the people who get the Stiffy Alerts.
Speaking of Dave Ramsey, do you ever use the “better than I deserve” response when asked how you are doing? I’ve always wondered if that worked. I’m a DR follower and always tip the delivery person well. I’m still waiting for a delivery person to use the “secret code” so I can tip them a little extra.
Hi Joe- I have used the secret code before but too many too just looked at me like I was a little weird, which I am right? The problem is that most people are a little drunk so they have a hard time processing anything different.
